Hartford residents can choose from 12 providers for an internet connection, with cable and fiber as available options. Xfinity’s cable service has 99.5% availability in the capital city. Hartford residents can also look for fiber from EarthLink and DSL from Frontier.

If you’re in the 59.1% of the city with EarthLink coverage, it’s an excellent choice. Otherwise, your alternative provider in the Insurance Capital of the World is Xfinity. From East Hartford to West Hartford and both sides of the Connecticut River, Xfinity covers a huge footprint of the city. Unfortunately, if you reside in or around the Asylum Avenue District and Anne Street Historic District, these areas are dead zones for the provider.

While DSL isn’t the best option for a wired internet connection, Frontier’s DSL service does feature a solid 5.3% availability.
