Internet Providers in Honolulu, Hawaii

For residents of the Big Pineapple, the availability of certain wired internet providers will depend on your neighborhood. The major players are Spectrum, which covers 94.8% of the city, and Hawaiian Telcom Fiber, which has sparser coverage.

Spectrum has the most internet coverage in Honolulu. The beaches and the city center are covered, as are neighborhoods heading up into the hills, such as Manoa and Wilhelmina Rise. The same goes for Wailupe and East Honolulu, as well as the north side of the city near the airport. The areas that don’t have Spectrum include the industrial area near Fort Shafter, around UH Manoa, and some parts of South Street.

If you can’t get Spectrum or prefer to shop with a local company, you should look into Hawaiian Telcom, which offers high-speed fiber internet across the majority of the city. Hawaiian Telcom has the advantage of near-perfect coverage in the hills, so you don’t need to worry in Manoa, Palolo, East Honolulu, or around Diamondhead. Availability is worse in city center neighborhoods such as the Historic District, Chinatown, and along South Beretania Street.

For residents living in the suburbs, Hawaiian Telcom will have better coverage, whereas businesses and homes in the city center will find Spectrum a better bet. Even though Spectrum covers more of the city, Hawaiian Telcom has a stronger presence in residential areas.
