Internet Providers in St. Paul, Minnesota

Saint Paul has several wired internet providers that offer high-speed internet service: Quantum Fiber, Spectrum and Xfinity. Depending on where you live, you might have access to one — or all — of these providers. Let’s take a closer look at where they offer coverage and where you might have better luck with a different provider.

First up is Quantum Fiber, which offers fiber internet service to 1.1% of Saint Paul. Though spread out, its coverage zones encompass plenty of residential neighborhoods with households that could benefit from fiber internet service. Various streets in Summit Hill fall within Quantum Fiber’s coverage areas, as well as some neighborhoods north of Frogtown. You’ll have a harder time finding Quantum Fiber near the city center, save for a few areas.

Alternatively, Xfinity is a cable internet provider with 92.0% coverage in the city, which is a more noticeable contrast to Quantum Fiber. Chances are, no matter where you live, you’ll run into Xfinity. However, it does share a common trait with the fiber internet provider, and that’s the patchy areas where its coverage doesn’t reach near the city center. Everywhere else is almost all covered by Xfinity, including the areas across the Mississippi River.

Spectrum is another cable internet provider that competes with Xfinity. It is available at 7.1%, though not by much. In fact, the only noticeable coverage area it has in Saint Paul is around the city center. It’s most prominent between East 5th Street and East 8th Street.

If you’re looking for a widely accessible internet provider, CenturyLink offers DSL service to Saint Paul residents. The only areas it doesn’t cover are public areas such as the Minnesota History Center and the Oakland Cemetery.
