Rochester residents can choose a reliable home internet connection from 10 providers. With a few fiber options and a cable service dominating the Flower City, some choices are available depending on your location.

Residents can choose from Greenlight, Frontier, or EarthLink for fiber internet. Greenlight has a large coverage area in downtown and surrounding areas. The provider also has coverage close to ROC and north of Rochester’s neighboring Henrietta. While Frontier has low coverage in the city’s downtown, it covers 34.3% of the city. Frontier makes up for what it lacks in downtown coverage with broad availability in the Maplewood Historic District and east of the Browncroft Historic District. EarthLink only features 28.5% availability, but it may be a great option if you’re in their service area.

When it comes to cable internet, Rochester features a singular option: Spectrum. The provider is widely available, reaching 95.6% of the city. Spectrum’s sweeping coverage extends west toward Spencerport and east toward Penfield. Coverage north to south enjoys a similarly large coverage area. A few sporadic locations throughout the city are outside Spectrum’s coverage area. The Convention District west of the Genesee River and the neighboring areas around the University of Rochester Mid Campus are among the most prominent dead zones.
