Best Internet Providers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

If you can get it, local favorite OEC Fiber is the best internet provider in Oklahoma City. If OEC isn’t an option in your area, though, don’t worry — AT&T Fiber is similarly great, and its fiber network covers significantly more ground in OKC. Either way, we recommend that you consider a fiber provider first, because fiber internet connections are the fastest and most reliable option.

OEC Fiber covers less than one-tenth of Oklahoma City’s land area, but it’s a favorite among customers within its footprint. In fact, OEC Fiber received an 82 Net Promoter Score from its subscribers, which is extremely high considering the average for ISPs tends to be around 31 out of 100. It’s known for fair pricing, reliable service, and quick speeds up to 1 Gbps.

In comparison, AT&T Fiber is faster — it can reach speeds up to 5 Gbps — and is available in 88.0% of Oklahoma City. Its plans range from $34 to $285 per month, and it also features superb customer service ratings. While OEC Fiber focuses on internet services primarily, AT&T Fiber also offers the option to bundle your internet with AT&T’s renowned wireless service for additional discounts.

If fiber doesn’t work for you, your next-best choice for internet in Oklahoma City is Cox. Cox is the city’s cable internet provider, and it offers plans that start at per month and bundles that start at per month. Its speeds are very good, too: You can get download speeds up to on Cox’s cable network. Like AT&T Fiber, Cox offers more bundling options than OEC Fiber, including mobile phone, TV, home phone, and even smart home services.

While AT&T does offer an IPBB connection in Oklahoma City, we don’t recommend it due to its extremely low speeds. Instead, if these providers don’t work for you, you might check out one of the various wireless solutions in OKC, including T-Mobile 5G Home Internet and Starlink satellite internet. However, these providers will be hard-pressed to match the reliability and speeds of terrestrial internet providers.

Many major providers in Oklahoma City offer promotions that are worth considering when signing up for service. For example, AT&T Fiber offers 20 percent off and six months of internet free when you pair it with an Unlimited AT&T wireless plan. AT&T Fiber also offers Visa Reward Cards (up to $150) of varying sizes when you sign up for the Internet 300 plan or higher. T-Mobile also offers a $300 rebate (via Virtual Prepaid Mastercard) when you sign up for its Amplified Home internet and All-In Home Internet plans, as well as a $100 rebate with the Rely Home Internet plan. Cox is offering a five-year price lock when you select the 2 GIG, 1 GIG or 500 Mbps internet plans and combine it with a Cox Unlimited Mobile line. These deals change often, so it’s best to check back often to see which ones are running.

Fastest Internet Providers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

AT&T is the fastest provider in Oklahoma City, with speeds up to 5 Gbps.

Oklahoma City has several fast broadband home internet providers, but your fastest internet provider option is AT&T Fiber. With symmetrical speeds up to 5 Gbps on its Internet 500 plan, AT&T Fiber surpasses Cox, OEC Fiber, and all the wireless solutions in the city.

When shopping for high-speed internet plans in Oklahoma City, remember that speed claims from fiber internet companies should be read slightly differently from speed claims made by cable or DSL companies. Unlike cable or DSL, fiber internet offers upload speeds that are just as fast as download speeds (with cable, DSL, and other connection types, the top advertised speeds only apply to downloads — upload speeds are much slower). For example, AT&T Fiber can reach upload speeds up to 5 Gbps, while Cox’s cable network can only reach . Fiber internet is also better suited to handling high-traffic hours, meaning you’re much less likely to experience slower internet just because your neighbors are using up a lot of bandwidth.

For these reasons, OEC Fiber is a great backup option to AT&T Fiber because it has download and upload speeds that reach up to 1 Gbps. Both of these providers also come with unlimited data, meaning you can get the full potential out of your plan. On the other hand, while Cox offers quick gigabit speeds, it does institute a 1.25 TB data cap on each plan. That means you could be on the hook for an additional $10 each month for every 50 GB you go over your limit unless you pay the $40 upfront to get an unlimited internet plan for 24 months.

Internet Availability in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

What’s the best internet provider in OKC? Well, that all depends on where you live and which providers are available in your area.

For starters, let’s talk about OEC Fiber. We mentioned that it’s a local favorite, but it only covers a small area of Oklahoma City — a little less than a tenth of the city’s land area. That area is in the southern part of town, near neighboring Newcastle and Moore (both of which have tons of OEC coverage, by the way — some towns have all the luck). Down near the airport in South Oklahoma City, you’re likely to be able to sign up for OEC Fiber. Between Moore and Lake Stanley Draper, it’s the same story. Southeast Oklahoma City and the surrounding area have solid OEC Fiber coverage as well, even north of Route 40 to the east of Tinker Air Force Base.

For all other areas of Oklahoma City, however, you’re not going to be able to sign up for OEC Fiber. That’s where you’ll have to opt for AT&T Fiber.

AT&T Fiber covers 88.0% of OKC. That coverage includes a nice chunk of the northern part of town, which is great news for those folks, since OEC Fiber doesn’t reach them. If you live in Northwest Oklahoma City, you’re likely to have access to AT&T Fiber’s plans. Areas around the enclaves of The Village and Bethany are well-served, too (as are those towns themselves). Availability is a little spottier in Northeast Oklahoma City, however.

AT&T Fiber also covers the western part of town, including West Watch, Spring Meadows, and Westbury South. You’ll also find some coverage near Tinker Air Force Base, including areas just across the city line in Midwest City.

And what about Cox, the city’s cable provider? Well, it’s available just about everywhere. Cox covers of Oklahoma City, and the “missing” areas in that statistic are mostly just empty space, like parkland and runways at the airport. You can be virtually certain that your address is served by Cox cable internet plans no matter where you live in OKC.
