Internet Providers in College Station, Texas

College Station residents have a few wired internet providers to choose from. Most notable are Optimum, EarthLink, and Frontier — all of which serve different areas of the city. Let’s take a look at where exactly they have the most and least coverage.

Optimum covers 50.9% of College Station with its cable internet service. There are swaths of parks around the city center where service isn’t available, but, also, any college students and faculty attending Texas A&M University won’t have access. If you live farther south of the city center, such as the District on Luther or the Woodlands of College Station, you’re within Optimum’s coverage zone. The Saddlewood, Reveille Ranch, and Wave Z Islander Apartments along Wellborn Road are also covered by Optimum.

On the flip side of the internet, EarthLink offers fiber internet service to select areas of College Station. It has 21.5% coverage, so it’s not the most accessible, but it’s typically a faster option than cable. Frontier is another fiber internet provider in the city, with 21.3% availability. It has the strongest concentration in Castlegate and Pebble Creek.

If Frontier’s fiber internet service isn’t available or what you’re looking for, it also offers DSL service. Despite it being older technology, it’s still a viable option for those who want sufficient internet service. In College Station, it doesn’t cover Texas A&M University, Easterwood Airport, or the University Apartments – The Gardens, but it does have more coverage areas farther east of the city center such as The Gables and Sorority Row.
