Tacoma has its fair share of wired internet providers offering high-speed internet plans. Depending on where you live, you might have access to one or all of them. Here's a look at which providers offer their services in select areas of the city.

Xfinity is available to 98.9% of the city. Its extensive coverage reaches nearly all neighborhoods in the city, with the exception of a few patches of dead zones in the downtown area and G Street. Even residents who live along Thea Foss Waterway, Middle Waterway, and Puyallup River have access to Xfinity's cable internet service.

Another cable internet provider that compares to Xfinity is Rainier Connect. It has a strong presence in Tacoma but has more pockets of low coverage than Xfinity. For example, coverage in the downtown area is spottier. The University of Puget Sound is also outside Rainier Connect's coverage zones. Still, most of the north and south end of Tacoma has access to the provider.

If you're looking for a fiber internet provider, you have Quantum Fiber as an option. It's available in about a third of the city, which makes it less accessible than the cable internet providers. However, the areas it covers include Hillsdale down south and central Tacoma.

For other options besides cable and fiber, CenturyLink offers DSL internet in Tacoma. Notably, coverage is less reliable in central Tacoma and the south end. However, it has consistent coverage in most of the downtown area, specifically along South Ninth Street.
