Lumos is a medium-size fiber internet provider with headquarters in Waynesboro, Virginia, and High Point, North Carolina, with additional store locations in Thomasville and Randleman, North Carolina, and Daleville and Covington, Virginia. It offers residential and business fiber internet services, VOIP, web hosting, and digital television. Since its merger with North State Communications in 2022, Lumos has attracted major interest. EQT Infrastructure will undertake a joint venture with T-Mobile to buy Lumos for $1 billion, allowing it to expand rural fiber services to countless homes. Physical store locations offer a face-to-face customer-service touch.
Lumos serves towns in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, including Burlington and Wilmington, North Carolina; Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Columbia, South Carolina. It has also budgeted hundreds of millions of dollars to lay fiber lines in Lexington and Richland counties in South Carolina; New Hanover, Harnett, and Johnston counties in North Carolina; and Mahoning and Trumbull Counties in Ohio. The Lumos Lifeline program provides discounted telephone and broadband services to benefits recipients and veterans.
