Best Internet Providers in Phoenix, AZ

Your best option for internet in Phoenix is Quantum Fiber — if you can get it. The only bad thing about Quantum is the fact that it serves only about 15% of residential properties in Phoenix. Everything else is good, from its top speeds (up to 8 Gbps in Phoenix) to its prices, which start at $50 per month. For most households, even one of Quantum Fiber’s “slower” plans might do: Quantum’s slowest plan can reach speeds up to 500 Mbps, which is still plenty fast enough for most users.

If you don’t have access to Quantum Fiber in your area of Phoenix, don’t lose hope. Your second-best option is still pretty solid, if not quite as popular. Cox, the city’s cable giant, offers internet-only plans that start at $50 per month (they run as high as $150 per month for the priciest plans). Cox’s bundles that start at $111 per month. Either way, you’ll get speedy internet. Cox’s service can reach up to 2 Gbps on its fastest plans.

Keep an eye out for internet discounts and deals as you shop. Right now, Cox is offering $15 off to customers who bundle their internet with Cox Mobile wireless services. There are also bundle offers that involve Cox’s security services, which the company calls the Cox Security Suite.

Though we don’t recommend it as highly as fiber internet or cable internet, it’s worth noting that DSL internet is also an option here in Phoenix. Phoenix’s local DSL provider is CenturyLink, which calls its DSL offerings “Simply Unlimited Internet” and offers prices that start at $55 per month and speeds that top out at up to 100 Mbps on the internet company’s top-tier plans. One perk of CenturyLink is that it doesn’t require any kind of long-term contract.

Fastest Internet Providers in Phoenix, AZ

CenturyLink is the fastest provider in Phoenix, with speeds up to 8 Gbps.

Phoenix’s fastest internet service provider is CenturyLink, which offers speeds up to 940 Mbps.

With that said, there are a couple of pretty fast internet companies in Phoenix. You really have two big options: Quantum, which can reach up to 8 Gbps on some plans, and Cox, which can hit up to 2 Gbps on its own top plans.

For some users, it may be important to remember that upload speeds are “symmetrical” (meaning equal to the corresponding download speeds) on fiber networks. That means that Quantum Fiber’s upload speeds can reach up to 8 Gbps, just like its download speeds. Cox’s upload speeds, by contrast, are measured in the low megabits per second (Mbps). For most users, this isn’t a big deal, but it can be a factor for users who plan to host data-intensive activities online, like streamers.

It’s also worth noting that Cox does have a data cap on some of its plans; Quantum Fiber does not.

Internet Availability in Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix is relatively well served with fast internet. That’s primarily thanks to Cox’s speedy cable connections, which reach 83.4% of town. Though Phoenix actually has 23 different providers in town, savvy shoppers will only want to pay attention to two or three: Quantum Fiber, Cox, and (in some cases) CenturyLink.

Since Cox covers just about everyone, the big question is whether you can get Quantum Fiber in your neighborhood of Phoenix. The odds aren’t too great for folks living downtown and in points to the south of the city center, we’re afraid. You’ll find a handful of lucky blocks near South Mountain Park and here and there in Central City, near Sky Harbor airport, but most residents of places like Copper Leaf Mountain, Park Phoenix, Central City South, and Garfield will find that they can’t sign up for Quantum Fiber. The story is much the same to the west of downtown, out near Grand Canyon University.

It’s a different story in Encanto Village and Alhambra, however. Those two neighborhoods are the best spots for Quantum Fiber availability in the whole city. It’s not a guarantee that you’ll have access, but if you live anywhere near Encanto Park or the country club, it’s worth checking to see if you can sign up for fiber.

Quantum Fiber availability falls off a bit again once you’re north of Alhambra. It’s still worth checking for availability if you live up near Moon Valley or Cave Creek, or even way up in North Phoenix, but there’s a good chance that Cox is your only option for truly high-speed internet.

As for CenturyLink’s DSL internet service, that’s widely available in town: CenturyLink covers 64.0% of Phoenix.
