Best Internet Providers in Las Vegas, NV

Quantum Fiber is the best internet service provider in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you can get it (which isn’t a guarantee — it covers only about 20 percent of Las Vegas), it should be your top choice. That’s because Quantum Fiber is the city’s only major fiber internet provider. Fiber-optic internet connections are simply faster and more reliable than their cable and DSL counterparts. Quantum Fiber uses that technology to power internet connections that can reach speeds of up to 8 Gbps, which is way more than a typical household would ever need.

If fiber internet isn’t available in your area, look to the city’s big cable internet provider, Cox. Cox offers internet-only plans that start at $50 per month, with the most expensive plan starting at $150 per month. Although Cox is known to offer fiber in select areas, Las Vegas is unfortunately not one of them. Still, the speeds it advertises, which range from 100 Mbps to 2 Gbps, are still fast enough for the everyday internet user. The company’s bundles can cost as little as $111 per month. These bundles include services like Cox Mobile, Cox Countour TV, Cox Voice and Cox Homelife, on top of its internet service.

Other options in Las Vegas include CenturyLink’s DSL internet plans, Starlink’s satellite internet plans, and T-Mobile’s 5G home internet plans. While these options might be a good fit for some users and budgets, we’d recommend taking a look at Quantum and Cox first. If neither Quantum nor Cox works out for you, we recommend CenturyLink as the next-best wired internet option in Las Vegas. Speeds aren’t the fastest, as they go up to 100 Mbps but the connection won’t be as spotty as fixed wireless and satellite.

Most providers include promotions with their internet plans, especially for new customers. Cox and CenturyLink are no exception. Currently, Cox offers customers $15 off per month when they bundle their internet with Cox Mobile. Then you have CenturyLink offering a free premium modem lease and free installation when customers sign up for the Fiber Gigabit plan. These deals change often, typically monthly, so we recommend checking back often for updated promotions.

Fastest Internet Providers in Las Vegas, NV

Quantum Fiber is the fastest provider in Las Vegas, with speeds up to 8 Gbps.

The fastest internet in Las Vegas is Quantum Fiber’s fastest plan, which tops out at up to 940 Mbps.

Quantum Fiber’s lightning-fast fiber internet plans are impressive, but they’re not available in many parts of Las Vegas. If you can’t get a plan with them, look to Cox as the next-fastest major provider. Cox download speeds go up to 2 Gbps while its upload speeds go up to 100 Mbps. After those two, expect a drop-off. The rest of Las Vegas’ internet service providers are wireless providers. They may not have the same types of fast broadband speeds, may have data caps, and may be more susceptible to slowing down during high-traffic hours.

Most fiber internet providers offer unlimited data with their plans, and Quantum is no exception. On the flip side, Cox’s cable internet plans have a data cap, but the amount is generous enough that any power internet user shouldn’t have to worry about going over the limit. However, if you live in a large household with multiple streamers and gamers, then you might want to look for an internet plan with unlimited data.

Internet Availability in Las Vegas, NV

Here’s the good news: Broadband internet is widely available in Las Vegas. You should be able to have some speedy Wi-Fi no matter where in town you live. The bad news? You may not have a lot of internet companies to choose from. For Las Vegas residents, there’s just one big player: Cox, which covers 90.0% of the city with its cable internet network. Some Las Vegas residents will have a second (and more highly recommended) choice in the form of Quantum Fiber, but your mileage will vary depending on which neighborhood you live in.

So where are the lucky Las Vegas residents who have access to Quantum Fiber?

Quantum Fiber’s availability is weaker in the downtown and eastern areas of Las Vegas. It’s pretty much entirely unavailable in East Last Vegas and coverage is spotty downtown and in the Cultural Corridor. Things get a little better in West Las Vegas. It’s worth checking availability if you live in Vegas Heights, but things don’t really pick up until you get a little further west.

Once you hit Twin Lakes, Quantum Fiber’s availability improves noticeably. That’s true to the south of Twin Lakes, too, particularly along Oakey Boulevard. Charlestown Heights residents have a decent shot of being able to sign up for Quantum’s fiber internet plans, too.

But availability wanes again as you go further west into Summerlin. Most other areas of Las Vegas don’t have great fiber availability, with one more exception: The northwestern edge of the city, near where Route 11 runs through Kyle Canyon, has a great fiber network.

It’s worth noting, though, that Quantum fiber’s network in Las Vegas varies a lot block by block. It’s not as easy to predict whether you’ll be able to get a fiber internet plan in Las Vegas as it would be in some other cities. It’s definitely worth giving Quantum a call or punching in your address on their website to see if you can sign up for a plan.
