Fastest Internet Providers in Queens, NY
The single fastest internet speed available in Queens is 5 Gbps, which is the top speed offered by Spectrum.
That’s very impressive and should be more than fast enough for your needs. In fact, most households will find that 500 Mbps is sufficient and 1 Gbps “feels fast”; once you get into the multi-gig speeds, you may find that it’s harder to notice the improvements.
A few providers offer very fast internet in Queens, including Earthlink Fiber (5 Gbps), Verizon Fios (), and Spectrum (1 Gbps). A good plan from any of these providers should have you covered for most common internet uses, like streaming video or music.

Internet Availability in Queens, NY
Internet providers in New York City vary a lot between boroughs, which is why Queens has such different home internet options than you’d get in the Bronx or even Brooklyn. Once you’re focused on a single borough, though, things calm down a bit. Most of the providers we mentioned are pretty widely available everywhere in Queens. You should be able to sign up with them regardless of whether you’re down on Breezy Point, over in Bayside, or anywhere else in the borough. That’s particularly true of Spectrum, with its 95.6% coverage.
It’s also true of Verizon Fios () and Earthlink (0.2%), though there are a few areas where you might be disappointed. Fiber internet is less commonly available in western Queens, in neighborhoods like Long Island City, Astoria, and Sunnyside. That’s not to say that nobody in these areas can get fiber; there’s a nice patch of Verizon Fios coverage along Broadway as it gets near Jackson Heights, for example, and there is some coverage up near Ditmars, too. However, you’ll need to check your exact address to see whether fiber is an option for you.
On the bright side, some of these same neighborhoods are covered by Astound Powered by RCN. Though Astound only has availability in Queens, it’s a popular option among Queens residents who have access. Look for it in Western Queens, from the East River all the way over to Corona Park. RCN covers good chunks of Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside, Elmhurst, and Corona. It also covers a portion of Flushing on the other side of the park. The only bad news on this side of Queens is for Jackson Heights residents: Astound’s only western Queens dead zone is in the blocks closest to LaGuardia Airport.
RCN is also available here and there in other parts of Queens, including some residential blocks in Ozone Park, Jamaica, and Fresh Meadows. However, these service areas aren’t huge, so you’ll want to check your exact address to be sure that you can sign up.
